Not since the harvest started. Not since whatever's down in the cellar started talking back through the floorboards in a voice that sounds almost like his. The grass remembers them. The air still tastes like the last seconds of their voices.

The long grass keeps secrets, and the secret tonight is which of you he's already chosen. Out past the fence, past the broken windmill, past where the lanterns die — something is waiting. Maybe it's a way out. Maybe it isn't. The moonlight is moving. He's already in the rows.

And on some nights it isn't the farmer at all — the Farmer Wife comes up from the cellar, silent, crawling low. She doesn't like to be seen. If you do see her, you'll already be screaming.

And on the worst nights, the Twins come — Grin with the heavy boots who tags a bunny red and won't forget you after, and Mollywho waits in the dusk and leaps the second she sees a sprint. If you're tagged, walk. If you hear both of them at once, it's already too late.

Long ago, six pandas built a stilt-pagoda in a sun-warm bamboo grove at the south end of a hidden valley — lanterns swinging between the stalks, a koi pond glowing in the afternoon light, the safest place in the world. To the north, in a cave of black stone lit by purple torchlight, slept four wolves. Between them lay The Borderland: a sandy stretch of grass and driftwood where the freshest bamboo grew wild and a sparkling river curled past little wooden bridges. "Panda Wanted" warned the sign at the cave gate. "No Wolves" warned the sign at the grove gate. Nobody ever listened.

And so the pandas began their daily run: dart out into the Borderland, scoop up a glowing bamboo box, race it home to grow the grove a little stronger. The wolves waited. Pounced. Netted. Dragged the panda back to the cave to sit behind iron bars — until a brave friend ran in and set them free. Nobody dies in this valley. Caught pandas just sleep there until somebody comes for them.

☀️ At day, the grove blooms and the wolves squint into the sun, sluggish and grumpy.
🌆 At dusk, the air goes still — and somewhere in the bamboo, both clans size each other up.
🌑 At night, the cave answers back. Eyes glint in the dark. Paws move faster than you can.

You can hear the wolves coming. You can almost outrun them. Almost. Will the grove deliver its twenty bamboo boxes and get every panda safely back inside Pandana Land before the cave swallows the whole valley? One last sprint home decides it. One quick match. Six pandas. Four wolves. And a story that resets every time the sun comes up.

Cute, frantic, glowing — and the only chase game where nobody ever gets hurt.
